5 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR STUDENT ORGANIZED

Use a planner or calendar: Write down all of your assignments, deadlines, and important dates in one place. This will help you keep track of what needs to be done and when.. It doesn’t matter if it’s a physical planner or a digital calendar, whichever works best for you. We prefer students to use a paper planner - and find it is much more effective! Use color, tabs or even some creative colorful tape to make it fun for you to use!

Create a to-do list: Make a list of all the tasks you need to complete for the day, the week, or even the month and year. Prioritize the most important ones and cross them off as you complete them. I like to use little boxes for the pure satisfaction of checking them off! This will give you a sense of accomplishment and help you stay focused. Plan a fun reward for yourself - even if it’s as simple as a cup of tea or coffee!

Keep your study space clean: A cluttered desk can lead to a cluttered mind. Keep your study area clean, well lit, stocked with everything you need and with a comfortable chair. Don’t use your bed for studying — your brain knows it is for sleeping — and that is how many study sessions end up when the bed is the chosen location!

Use color coding: Assign a different color to each subject or activity. This will help you quickly identify what you need to focus on and make studying more enjoyable. Some of our students use colored folders, post it notes, high lighters or colored pencils by subject to really help their organization have some POP to it!

Take frequent breaks: It's important to take breaks to avoid burnout. Studies show that 15-20 minutes of work is best and a short break can help refresh your mind and help with better focus.
